The 2x2 Rubik’s Cube consists of 8 corner cubies and operates in much the same way as its bigger brother – the Rubik’s Cube. Instead of having 26 individual pieces that makes up the 3x3 Rubik’s Cube, there is also 8 pieces in a 2x2. Thus, the difficulty is drastically reduced. The current world record is held by Maciej Czapiewski with a timing of 0.49s, and the world record average is held by Martin Vædele Egdal with an average timing of 1.21s.
