After learning the beginner's method(LBL), you may want to consider learning this method.
It is way faster than LBL and all you need is 12 algorithms. This first step would also be to solve the first layer,
but unlike LBl, there is no need to permutate the first layer correctly as shown below.

First layer solved but not permutated
One side solved but not permutated
One side solved and permutated
One side solved and permutated

This means that it is very easy to solve the first step and you could
do so intuitively. Next, you solve the opposite layer with only one out of seven algorithms.

Top and Bottom Layer Solved
Top and Bottom Layer Solved but not permutated

Lastly, you permutate and solve the whole cube with one of five algorithms
Next, only one algorithm is needed to permutate the remaining corners.

Now you have a completed 2x2!
